Seminar for Christian Workers “10 Bridges of Communication”

On the 6th of October there was heavy rains and thunder storm in the Kalutara district and other districts of the country. As this is the rainy season now we are expecting more rains and storms as per the weather forecast. The worst affected was Kalutara district where our Church in Neboda got flooded and many families were affected. The pastor working there informed me by phone on Sunday 7th of the situation. Many trees have fallen and the rivers are overflowing. The area has 150 mm of rainfall and many houses have gone under water. I have visited the areas that are reachable on Tuesday 9th to assess the situation. Some areas are not accessible due to the flood waters.

Our church in Neboda is surrounded by water and thousands of people are affected with some deaths too in Neboda and other areas. Having seen the situation we are concerned about Neboda and plan to give 50 affected families some boxes of dry rations to ease their burden which is within our limit. We are sharing this with you as we consider you as brothers and sisters in Christ to request you for your prayers in this difficult situation. We do not want to trouble or burden you every time as we know this situation takes place in other countries too and you have other commitments. However, you are free to do as you wish and pray that God will provide all our needs to help these affected families in Neboda.
